Chapter Seven: Vow.

Yamamoto awoke to the sound of a man and a woman arguing.
“You do not see what I see!” the woman shouted. She threw a candle at the head of the man.
“My darling,” he said, “we must think about this carefully.”
“Think about what? The fact you cannot see that this entire plan is ridiculous!”
“Well, if you think you are so smart then you think of what to do with this Japanese dog!”
Yamamoto assumed that was to him. He got up and walked over to them. “How dare you call me a Japanese dog you western piece of shit.”
“Well, look who is finally up,” the woman said. She started to circle Yamamoto. “Gerald, what do you think of our friend here?”
“I think for a Japanese dog, he has potential.”
Yamamoto was lost his patience again. He drew his katana and started to charge at the man known as Gerald, the King of Demons. A large stream of electricity shot out of Gerald’s disgusting hand and shot Yamamoto in the chest. Yamamoto fell into some boxes.
“Do not test me dog,” Gerald said, “I prefer to have female human victims but I will hesitate to strike you down and make you beg to me.”
“Who the hell are you?” Yamamoto asked as he slowly got back up on his feet.
“We are Ashford,” Elizabeth said with a sick smile that touched her ears.
“The King and Queen of the demon world?” Yamamoto stared at them in disbelief.
“That’s right,” Elizabeth answered him. She shot out fire from her hand as it hit his shoulder. The fire was turning into a snake that wrapped itself around Yamamoto’s body. He screamed in panic.
“We need you Yamamoto,” Elizabeth said plainly.
“Why me?” he asked.
“You are a powerful demon,” Elizabeth told him, “You are slowly turning into an oni. Did you know that?”
“I figured. But I still use a sword and I still look human!”
“Look at your skin Yamamoto. It is turning red.”
Yamamoto looked down at his skin and looked back at this woman with a smile. He was about to say something but Elizabeth put up a hand to silence him.
“You will do what we say when we say,” she said, “You are very good at tactics so I want you to be our adviser when we go into war with the DHA and the humans.”
Yamamoto didn’t say a word. He only smiled.

D had taken Angie on a tour of the DHA as she had asked her to do. They walked all over the buildings and looked at all the offices and labs. D spoke with Angie about her life as they did so. Angie was a normal girl. She loved her parents and always wanted to make them feel proud of her. When her mother first got sick with cancer, Angie told D that she was feeling herself die on the inside along with her mother. She said that it was the worst time in her life. And only a short year after that, D had fallen into Angie’s life.
“When I first saw you up close, I felt something from you,” she said, “I felt sadness and now I understand why.”
“Did you?” D said, “Well, I’m not that sad anymore.”
“Oh no, why is that?”
“I met you.”
They spent the time in silence after that. As they walked back to D’s apartment, D saw that J and T were moving in a large full size bed. K was had moved out the twin sized bed already.
“Come on boys! I have more strength then you two combined!” K said laughing. As she noticed Angie and D coming into the room, she turned her head to them.
“Why hello my dears,” K said, “this is going to be your new bed. One you might need to sleep on the sofa, not sure how you will feel about sharing this full size. We didn’t have another twin in stock.”
Angie’s jaw dropped as D slapped her face. “I said I wanted two twin beds!”
“I know, but we just don’t have any mate. You know how many people use these apartments?”
D gritted her teeth as she looked at the bed.
“Fine, I will continue to take the couch…”
Angie bit her lower lip but didn’t say a word. J and T finally set the bed down and came out of the small bedroom. J was dusting off his hands.
“There you go,” he said, “all set. I hope you two enjoy many wonderful nights on your new bed!”
T smacked the back of J’s head.
“What was that for?”
“For being a moron,” T answered him.
The three agents then bid their farewell to D and Angie. D sat on the couch and looked at the wall with a blank expression on her face. Angie sat down next to her.
“It’s not that bad. I was wondering, you know, the other day why I was placed with you and they told me that they were out of room. So maybe, when someone else moves out I can move in there. You know. Then it won’t be so bad.”
D cupped her head in her hands.
“You can stay here as long as you need or want. I don’t care. I just hate sleeping on this couch.”
“You can sleep with me. I don’t bite. And I mean, it doesn’t mean anything, right?”
“I suppose so, but let me think ok?”
“Alright,” Angie got up and hugged D again. “See you in the morning.”
Angie disappeared into the bedroom. D was left with her thoughts as she watched her walk off. D’s eyes then adverted themselves back to the wall.
Angie took out a phone and dialed a number into it. She had made fast friends with a girl named Madison back home and they have been best friends for years. She heard Madison pick up the line.
“Hello?” Madison’s neutral voice rang.
“Hello!” Angie greeted her politely and lightly.
“Angie! So how are things?”
“They are going good, but I don’t think this whole thing with D is going to work out.”
“Oh, are you going to talk to me more about this mysterious D fellow?”
“Sorry Madison. I can’t tell you much about D. D is just D.”
“Uh huh, so you say. So, anything new?”
“Yes, D took me out to breakfast and we spent the whole day together just looking around where… well where D works.”
“Oh! That’s romantic. Did you give off any signs that you have a crush on him?”
“No, I suppose I haven’t.”
“Well you need to.”
“Remember I told you D was really sad?”
“Yes.”
“Well, D says that it went away. It went away when we met.”
“That’s big! That means he likes you! Boys don’t usually say things like that unless they mean it!”
Angie was nervous about this. She cleared her throat.
“Madison would you still be my friend if I was…”
“If you were what?”
“If I were into… girls?”
The line was silent until Madison broke that silence about a minute later.
“D is a girl?”
“Yes, she’s old too. Well, she’s 10 years older then me!”
“She’s twenty seven! And she’s a she! Why didn’t you tell me you like girls?”
“I wasn’t sure until I met D. D is so different from anyone, male or female. D is…”
“Breathtaking?”
“Yes, how did you know I was going to say that?”
“Because I know you.”
Angie spent the rest of the night telling Madison about the bed, about the way D reacted to it. Madison suggested that maybe D was having second thoughts. That perhaps it was becoming too real. She was older and Angie was so young.
“You know, perhaps, she feels that is breaking the law or something,” Madison offered the advice as Angie laughed.
“Well, I guess she is! Well, I’m going to be 18 soon. Oh, well, I should let you go. I need rest.”
“Alright, good night Angie.”
“Good night.”
Angie hung up, changed into sleepwear and crawled under the covers. Angie fell asleep quickly. She started to dream about D. D was standing looking up at stars. She was dressed in her normal attire. She had her black trench coat on, the one that touches the floor slightly. Angie could see that D had on her dark blue jeans and black t-shirt as always. The shiny boots were gleaming in the moonlight. D’s face was soft and relaxed. Her hair was tied back as it always was. D held in her breath and let out a sigh as she turned her head to look at Angie. Angie walked over to D and turned her head up to the sky.
“What are you looking at?” Angie asked D in a dreamy voice.
“The stars,” she answered.
“Aren’t they lovely?” Angie asked her.
“Not as lovely as you.”
Angie turned around and held onto D’s hand. In the dream, D didn’t have her leather fingerless gloves on. Her hands were soft against Angie’s skin. Angie could feel the warmth. This was her finally thought as her mind drifted farther into sleep.
Meanwhile, D was sleeping, once again, on her stomach letting her left hand touch the floor as her head was buried deep into her pillow. D wasn’t having such pleasant dreams. She was having nightmares. These were horrible nightmares of being chased, nightmares of the world being caught under demonic rule. She had failed the world.
The morning was drawing in as Angie stirred in her sleep. She woke up to the sunlight creeping into the bedroom. She looked around and was about to say good morning to D, but noticed that D wasn’t next to her.
“Oh, that’s right…” Angie sighed as she got up out of the bed. She tiptoed over to living room where D’s sleeping body was actually on her back this time. Her right hand was now dragging on the floor. Angie noticed that she didn’t have her gloves on, or her boots for that matter. It was a little odd to see D without these things. Angie quickly remembered the dream she had the night before. She sighed slightly as she looked at D with a dreamy glint in her eyes.
Angie bent down and brushed D’s hands with her own. She felt D’s soft skin for the first time. Angie’s thoughts ran away with her. D felt the sunlight intrude on her nightmares. She felt the touch of something warm on her hand. She rolled over on the cough and started to mumble something inaudible.
Angie knew D was about to wake up. Angie got up off the floor and tiptoed back into the bedroom. D opened her eyes. It had taken her a while to adjust to the room around her. D got up and yawned. She took her leather gloves off the coffee table and strapped them back onto her hands. She turned her head to the bedroom.
“Angie?” D called out.
“I’ll be out in a minute D!” Angie called back. She was running a bath; D could hear the water through the wall. D sniffed the air around her. D needed one as well. She sank herself back onto the couch and turned on the TV.
“Our top news story this morning is the strange explosions that had occurred just 2 days ago. There large explosions could be heard all over New York City. The people were terrified of terrorism once again. However, the movie production company Glassware says that they were just filming a movie. That would explain this footage,” the newscaster’s image was cut from the scene and the image of D falling off the building to save A was shown.
“This is a scene that was filmed two days ago. Apparently, there was a young woman with batwings saving another woman who was falling off the building. The filming company swears that the scene was fake. They had their cameras perched on the rooftop and were also filming this scene.”
The scene then cut to the helicopter and then to the scene of D flying A to the DHA building.
“This newscaster is not so sure this was filmed, but there isn’t any other explanation for the bizarre events that have taken place. We now go live to Hank Ortiz at the scene of yet another explosion. The city claims they are doing underground explosions where there have been clogs in the sewers. Hank?”
D turned off the TV. She heard the water stop running and after a minute Angie was dressed in a powder blue tee, black jeans and sneakers.
“Do you need to use the shower?” she asked.
“Yea, I need a shower bad,” D said.
“All yours then!” Angie said as sat herself on the couch. D got up and made her way to the shower. Angie sighed and leaned back into the couch. She grabbed a pillow and held it tight.

Elizabeth turned her head to Gerald. “I think now is a good time to extract that poison used on our dear friend here. It may come in handy for D and Yumi,” she had a sick smile on her face as she uttered the last sentence.
“Of course,” Gerald said with a bow. He walked near Yamamoto, whose smile had faded from his face.
“What do you mean extract?” he said with a worried look.
“It won’t hurt too badly,” Elizabeth said. Gerald had restrained the Japanese solider with a bolt of electricity. Yamamoto’s body became completely numb. Pain was shooting from his stomach all the way to his head as Gerald sank a large needle into his red skin. A reddish-green liquid was being extracted from his black blood.
“This is the liquid that agent can make,” Gerald said looking at it. Elizabeth sighed.
“Be careful with it,” she advised, “he’s lucky to be male. The pain was so intense it knocked him unconscious…” Her voice trailed off as she looked at the liquid. Gerald held out his hand and released Yamamoto from his hold. Yamamoto felt numb as he fell to his knees.
“You are now our servant,” she said with a wicked grin, “Understood?”
“Understood,” Yamamoto said. He then started to spit up black blood all over the black marble floor of the abandoned office building.
Another chapter.
